Marshal social weekend 2024
Marshal Social Camping Weekend at Rust de Winter (18-20 October)
The Marshal Unit gathered for a memorable social camping weekend at Rust de Winter from 18 to 20 October. Most participants arrived on Friday, with a few more joining in on Saturday morning.
The camp setting was perfect, with majestic trees lining the campsite, creating a serene environment. We couldn’t have asked for better weather, making the whole weekend even more enjoyable.
Saturday kicked off with some light training on GPS navigation and handheld radio procedures, followed by a relaxing afternoon. By 14h00, the fires were lit for a braai, and the socializing began in earnest.
Later in the afternoon, some friendly volleyball in the pool added to the fun, though it may have left a few seasoned marshals feeling a bit sore the next day!
Evenings around the campfire were a highlight, filled with the sharing of tales and plenty of laughter, deepening the bonds between marshals.
The weekend was a tremendous success, giving everyone a chance to relax and enjoy each other’s company outside the usual busy event schedule. It was a reminder of how strong and vibrant the Marshal Unit truly is.
Looking forward to the final events of the year!
