The Off Road Marshal Unit of Southern Africa is a non-profit making organisation that draws it’s members from a wide spectrum of off road clubs. The aim is to provide a service to the various bodies who host off road events by offering suitably trained and experienced marshals adhering to a common set of operating procedures and standards as set out in a marshal manual that has evolved over a period of more than 30 years.
The Off Road Marshal Unit, although based in Gauteng, is not intended as a controlling body. Rather it’s aim is to coordinate like minded people throughout southern Africa who have a passion for off roading, a desire to be involved and who wish to be part of the greater off road marshaling community.
Members throughout southern Africa are welcome to operate autonomously in developing off road events in their own areas but the opportunity for members residing in different parts of the region to officiate jointly at events exists and such joint ventures are encouraged.
The Off Road Marshal Unit is family oriented and the involvement of partners and offspring at the various events is welcomed. And, of course, social events are arranged where members and their families can get together.
Although there is a serious side to the work of the Unit the aim is to have fun and to enjoy the involvement in off road events and the camaraderie that is generated is an inevitable consequence.
