Basic Marshal Kit – ORMU
Basic Marshal Kit for marshals that attend ORMU Cross Country events.
- Recommended Personal Equipment
- Own transport (although a 4×4 is not a must, the need to travel from your point to the next might be required).
- GPS (and the knowledge how to use it).
- Table & chairs
- Fire extinguisher (serviced).
- Comprehensive first aid kit including protective sun lotion and insect repellent.
- Food and drink.
- Drinking water for personal use (do have more than enough as competitors might request water when stranded at your point).
- Basic tool set and spares for personal vehicle including a pair of pliers and a side cutter.
- Basic camping equipment.
- Toilet paper (apart from the obvious use, you can mark a suitable helicopter landing site by means of a white cross).
- Sufficient fuel.
- Duct tape.
- High lighters.
- Pens and Pencils.
- Note pad.
- Stop watch that can time hours, minutes and seconds.
- Sequence sheets.
- Incident Forms.
- Clip boards – at least two.
- Hammer (at least a 4 pound or sliding hammer).
- The following will be provided by event organizers but every marshal should strive to build his own kit where possible.
Droppers (quantity = 14; minimum of 1.2 metres long).
Race Route:
PVC Signage (minimum size 600 mm x 600 mm with sleeve pockets on left and right sides).
- a) Marshal Signs (quantity =1). Black ‘M’ on white background.
- b) Crossing Signs (quantity =1). Black ‘+’ on white background.
- c) Exclamation Signs (quantity =1). Black ‘!’ on white background.
- d) Stop Signs (quantity =1). White STOP in red octagon on white background.
Public Traffic:
PVC Signage (minimum size 600 mm x 600 mm with sleeve pockets on left and right sides).
- a) Caution – Motorsport in Progress Signs (quantity =2)
- b) Indemnity Signs (quantity =1). Black wording on white background.
